Preppers are people who are always prepared for emergencies, whether they be natural or man-made disasters.
One such prepper, Curt La Haise, maintains a basement stockpile with a seven month supply of food and other items he’d need in an extended emergency.
A survival equipment business in Burlington helps people prepare, and a company spokesperson said business has been booming since tensions with North Korea have escalated.
But La Haise says he isn’t as worried about North Korea as he is about a powerful tornado.
“It’s a life insurance policy,” he said of his cache. “I’d rather have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
